Lauren is passionate about defending taxpayer rights and resolving tax disputes. She has litigated an array of tax cases on behalf of corporate and individual clients in the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court, including seven published federal tax cases. Her tax dispute experience also includes helping taxpayers with federal and state tax audits and appeals, sales tax problems, worker classification issues, income tax problems, tax debt relief, installment agreements, offers in compromise, levies, delinquent tax returns, employment tax problems, payroll tax problems, and abatement of tax penalties.
Prior to starting Rinsky Law, Lauren spearheaded the tax controversy practices at prominent law firms in the San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California. She is admitted to practice law in California; the District of Columbia; the U.S. Tax Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Federal Claims; and the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of California.
Lauren is a member of the State Bar of California, Section of Taxation; the District of Columbia Bar; CalCPA, and the Palo Alto Area Bar Association. She holds an LL.M. in taxation and a J.D., both from the University of San Diego School of Law, and a B.A. in political science from U.C. Santa Barbara.
